One Tree Hill: Drama Overload!

Good lord, folks: One Tree Hill hit us with Drama Overload this week! We had suicide, theft, breakups, face-slaps, missteps, dreams deferred, drug-fueled rants, and a whole bunch o' woe-is-me on tap. Can no one be happy in Tree Hill? Apparently not -- although some folks have only themselves to blame. Let's break it down:

Brooke, Julian and Alex
When Alex ambushes Julian, he slips up and tells her about Brooke's infertility. DOH! The Alex saunters into Brooke's store with a bunch of adoption fliers, saying that "we" want to help. Brooke tears her a new one, telling her that the movies not getting made because Alex herself is a liability -- no one will touch a script that she's attached to. When Julian comes over to yell at her, Alex lays the whole love trip on him again -- I can give you everything you want! I know you love me too! Julian finally snaps, telling her "I do not love you. I don't even like you!" and confirms that the script got rejected because of her. But the damage is done-- Brooke wants to take a break from their relationship and tells Julian to go back to LA and make a movie. Alex leaves Julian a tearful message -- "I won't be around to cause you any pain." She's slit her wrists.

Most heartbreaking moment:
The Brooke/Julian breakup. Oh, our hearts!

Do they deserve our sympathy?
Brooke: Hell yes, even though she was quite the bee-yotch to Alex. She's dealing with the idea that she can't have kids, and Alex just rubs her nose in it. Julian" Sort of -- we're sorry about the breakup, but he didn't have to tell Alex about Brooke. The best way to deal with Alex is to stop talking to her entirely. Alex: Hell no! She brought all this on herself and now she's doing the whole "you'll miss me when I'm gone!" thing, which... snap out of it!

There's more -- read on!

Clay
Apparently, Clay did have other clients... but the agency took them all. Makes sense, since they're, you know, the agency's clients. But he's got a great prospect out in Arkansas that can turn things around for him... or not. The kid jumps ship, too, and Clay decides to leave Tree Hill. Quinn makes it All About Her, but then, it's Quinn -- what else can we expect?

Most heartbreaking moment:
Quinn tried to snap Clay out of his funk by asking what he thought Sarah would say about the situation. "Nothing," Clay replies, "Sarah's dead." Sob!

Does he deserve our sympathy?
Yep. Sure, he screwed up, but losing a job and starting over sucks. Plus, he's being ridiculously classy about it all -- even advising his last best hope kid on which agent would be a good fit for him.

Naley and son
The agents tell Nathan that the NBA is full up at the moment, so he'll have to play ball in Barcelona. Haley simultaneously gets the news that she's expected to go out on tour to support her new album, which looks likely to be a smash. After much dithering, they both decide that they'll pursue their separate dreams -- and Jamie's going to be home schooled on a tour bus. Slight problem -- he just told Skills that whatever happened, he's never leaving Tree Hill.

Most heartbreaking moment
Nathan and Haley deciding they'll part to pursue their jobs, not knowing that Jamie was listening from the stairs.

Do they deserve our sympathy?
Perhaps this is an unpopular stance, but .. hell no! Barcelona? We'd KILL to have an all-expense-paid trip to that city, for the tapas alone! And yes, we know touring is hard work, but we can't quite muster up the sympathy for someone who's going to be a rock star. As for Jamie? Sorry, kid -- but you're 7 -- you don't get to choose where you live. Suck it up!

Millie and Mouth and Skills
Blah blah dugs, blah blah you're not he woman I fell in love with, blah blah no snow in Milliville without a stolen dress, blah blah blah. Apparently, we're already bored of this plot. Yes, we like bitchy Millie, but this plot doesn't do it for us. When Mouth tells Millie that if she walks out the door, she shouldn't come back, we were shooing her out of the building. Let it be over, please! Then Skills tells Mouth that if he gets the job as sports coordinator in LA (based on... recreating someone else's sports choreography? Hrm.) that Mouth should come with him. We're cool with that, too.

Most heartbreaking moment
We wish our cold, coal-like hearts could still feel anything for Mouth and Millie... but we can't.

Do they deserve our sympathy?
Sort of ... but the storyline is such that we can't be bothered to give it.

Dan and Rachel
Rachel wants Dan to "go big" at the high school show -- but Dan is having second thoughts, especially after he gets smacked by dead Jimmy's mom for exploiting her son. But Rachel won't listen to him when he talks about canceling the show or walking away from what they've built. "It will never be enough," she says.

Most heartbreaking moment
That had to be Jimmy's mom meeting Dan -- and he thought she wanted an autograph! Nope, not quite...

Do they deserve our sympathy?
Dan: We know we shouldn't fall for it, but yeah, we think he does. We think he's honestly trying to atone, but no one will let him. Rachel: Nope -- but she doesn't want our sympathy. She just wants our cash. And we love her for that!

So, I knew I was going to hate this season as soon as I heard lucas was leaving. I think it would have been much more interesting if they found a way to keep chad and pursue the whole peyton dies, lucas= hot single dad storyline that seemed like it was going to be possible for a while.

Does anyone wonder where the hell peyton and lucas and sawyer are? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't seem to remember them saying where they went. I mean Peyton just up and leaves Red Bedroom Records? Lucas just forgets about being a writer? they live in the cometan travel around like nomads? lol I dont know!

I think they have given up and are doing plotlines that are safe and expected. They should just cut the season short and put us out of our misery. Even though i didnt want leyton to end up together, i would've been more happy with season 6 being the end. season 7 is ruining the legacy of one tree hill.

Does anyone else see that these characters all function seperatly?
Brooke and Julian and Alex and Bitch-whoria are one storyline. with occasional Millie crossover
Millie/mouth/skils are another with occasional jamie crossover
Naley/Clay and quinn and jaime are another with occasional dan
and dan and rachel are seperate all together.
It just makes no sense! they all interact as a group in like the camping episode and like the haley concert epsiode and the fashion show. otherwise its a million seperate stories.

dont you miss the days when they all pretended like they actually were friends? now it seems they just all happen to live in the same place

Oh my gosh I 100% agree with everything you said, i was laughing so hard reading this because its exactly what i was thinking!

Okay...

Alex - how come NO ONE feels bad for her?! I mean, yea she was a total bitch when she got there, and is always a total bitch to brooke, but think about it... she is a bitch to brooke because she is JEALOUS of her. brooke has everything alex wants. and come on, the actress is delivering well! when she cries i actually feel for her. and how can you not see that she is a good person underneath all the bullsh*t - she is trying to get millie to stop doing coke.. and she is always sincere with her. she literally has no friends and guys ONLY want to get in her pants.. nothing more. the end of this episode totally shook me.

i feel bad for brooke and julian, and i think brooke reacted the exact way i would about everything.. julian wasn't there for brooke and he kept running to alex.

i wont talk about everything else but i have one last thing to say

DOES IT NOT FEEL LIKE THEY ARE ENDING THE SERIES!? =(

Brooke and Julian split, he's going back to LA. Haley is going on tour, Nathan is going to Spain,, Clay is leaving, Mouth and Millie are breaking up, Skills and Mouth are going to L.A... Literally the only people left in tree hill will be Brooke, Dan, Rachel, and Quinn!

Was I the only one who wasn't feeling the sympathy for Brooke? I mean, I get it and all, and I supposed Sophia Bush was giving it to us, but she just seems so whiny! Like a lot of this anguish seems to be brought on herself. I'm sorry she can't have kids, but the rest of this stuff she created and it's pretty unnecessary.

CLAY AND BROOKE!!!!!!!!!!
BRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.....or Crooke...eitherway

I want to see it happen. Everyone seems so seperated this season. If Clay and Brooke started dating, they could easily be the next Brucas. Clay has been the Lucas replacement for Nathan and Haley anyway. Why not for Brooke. Plus it causes drama that would bring the whole gang back together again. Haley would be put in the middle of Quinn and Brooke and have something new to focus on. It could lead to Julian and Alex having a little fling for a while. And many other storyline possibilities.

HATE jullian i think brooke deserves someone better if she cant have lucas then they need to introduce someone thats deserving of brooke i mean us fans who've been watching for 7 years feel like she's one of our friends so she needs a great man and Jullian is not.
and mouth and millie need to leave ASAP
while rachel, rachel needs to stay for the long haul

OMG! i just about died at the end! julian and brooke can't break up, but at the same time, i can see why she would break up with him, but she didnt really see the whole thing. julian- seriously, you keep saying you dont trust alex, yet you keep letting her in. um... hello? stop telling her shes a lying beotch if you dont really belive it, or do anything about it...
and as for the naley thing, that was just kinda sad, but i think naley will defenitly survive the whole long distance thing (obviously, they're naley) but i did feel kinda bad for jamie, but we've already had the whole no one is ever in the same room thing, and now everyone's leaving, it'll be ten times worse
but yet, i know at least most of the people who are leaving will be back, thats just the way the show goes

OK, so in your poll, it was like a 10-way tie for me.

I can't believe Alex felt THAT unwanted that she slit her wrists... that's just so sad. People need to be careful how they say things, especially to emotionally unstable people.

I can not express enough how much I love Victoria Davis (first and last name, in honor of One Tree Hill).

I'm sorry, but I can't take much more of this show. Does anyone else miss the good ol' days when the main characters, Lucas and Peyton, were actually on the damn show; when Lucas would end with an awesome line from some classic literature that tied all the story lines together; when the characters in the show actually had some interaction; when there weren't fifty bajillion different stories all meshed into one with no end in sight...

This is just getting ridiculous. I have no idea why I'm still watching, to be perfectly honest. And this last episode really brought this to light. I've been feeling this way all season long, really, but yesterday's episode just blew my brain.

I think I just keep watching the show for Mouth and Julian. I love those guys.

P.S. Where the hell did Lucas and Peyton go, anyway? They've never explained it. they just disappeared. Pisses me off.

ugh! brooke can't catch a break.. brooke and julian better stay together and they better have a miracle baby
