Supernatural: Where's Jo? Plus, Plot Rumors!

Alona TalWith all this talk of the new girls on Supernatural, we almost forgot about the original contentious female, Jo Harvelle. The folks at E!Online talked to actress Alona Tal about her prospects to return: “The last thing I heard was that it hadn't worked out the way that the producers had expected, because I look apparently like their 14-year-old sister. I honestly don't know what's going to happen, but if I had the chance, I would love to go back to Supernatural."

The next bit is a rumor and potential spoiler, so don’t click if you don’t want to know:

Gossip making the rounds says one of Dean’s past trysts produced a child – an eight-year-old boy, to be exact. Rumor is, at some point this season, Dean will meet his heretofore unknown son.

OK, we’re trying not to let our eyes roll out of our heads. We can only hope that Dean’s kid is (1) not really his kid, or (2) eeeeeeeeeeevil. Or both. Because we can’t see the addition of an adorable moppet to the cast. That tends to be the kiss of death, and we really, really don’t want to see Happy Meal boxes littering the back seat of the Metallicar. What do you think?

she is perfect for dean

http://www.petitiononline.com/jobethh/petition.html

i love jo!! i realy hope she back to supernatural!
She is perfect for Dean because dosn't look like other "toy" to him, and she realy can become in a great hunter!

Wanda from Argentina

PLEASE BRING JO BACK!!
She is perfect for Dean

I was happy that Dean wasnt the father. It would have ruined alot. But in the end dean should def have a family. Sam needs to go evil for awhile and not just possessed evil like in born under a bad sign...but evil so he can defeat Lilth!

Okay, i LOVE Jo, i thought that the relationship between Jo and Dean, was awkward, but even though they did seem like siblings, why not bring in a new love interest for Dean, and bring her in as a friend of them, a hunter for them to help, or to be helped by, like Bobby

Ya.. the episode the 'kid' appears in was so well written that you really WANT it to be his!! It was one of those really really good episodes you watch over and over again! :)

I think supernatural should have sam going totally evil for 2 or 3 episodes and dean having a kid would be good but only at the end.

I really liked Jo and thought she would be perfect for Dean (not right now, but after Dean's ready to settle down and stuff...) If he lives over a year that is! She's the kind of woman who understands hunting and what is involved, if she was with Dean, she'd know what she was getting herself into and be prepared if anything happened to either of them.

She's got a pretty strong personality but I don't want them to get together until the very end, if Dean survives.

Dean isn't ready for a serious relationship right now, and I think if he was with Jo he would really care for her and not think of her as just a fling... so maybe later on?

I don't think the kid is his.. its just so people will want to watch the episode is all.

hey yah about dean having a kid the most stuppidest idea ever! i mean i love eric, but honestly if he even thinks about dean havin a kid he's out-a his mind! i mean u gotta think bout the charicters 2! i couldnt imagin dean havin a kid, sam maby but dean i mean come on! anyway i love the show total fan totaly obsessed , but im givin my honest opinion cuz i love this great show! and i dont want to see it get screwed up! but then again its only a runer im just saying if it were real, it would mack things more complicated 4 the winchesters.

i think that jo should stay on, i am all for adding the two girls, but i really like jo, and hope to see more of her. her and dean look cute together. i really hope they dont kick her off. but really dont care, i will love the show supernatural whatever happens, i am a die hard fan!!!

ok,normally i dont ever leave comments on this but i dont believe the child will be deans.i think thats just going to throw the hole story of track.i also think its a good idea for an episode but other then that would be to much emotional problems.and the idea of adding 2 hot girls to the show is not bad, dean gets with girls all the time in other episodes so why not make a potenshal girlfriend out of one?having more girls will make for more drama and isent that what a show lives for?

Supernatural is GREAT. Don't give Dean a child. Jo is history. Case closed.

ooook first off JT what the heck kinda person do you think you are going around talking like that on a "fan" site. if your faithful enough to the show to be on their site then you would never say any kinda of crap like that.

and second of all, i totally agree with Cindy (above). i have full expectations for season three. and with the past two season under there belt i believe that they can take this show in any route that they want to and it will still be amazing.

Ummm...i don't think its a totally crazy idea because it makes sense that that could happen with dean being dean and all. but i think all those jackass people out there who are suposedly "FANS" need to chill out because supernatural has had a great two seasons and anyone doubting kripke should really shut the hell up.

Im possitive that whatever they do they do it great.

supernatural has always been great at being entertaining and kicking ass

so i have total faith in season three

First off we don't know they are making Dean a dad. So far we have part of the plot of one episode that is most likely exaggerated to a great degree by the gossip columnists.

Highly doubt the kid is Dean's. This "one-nighter" who supposedly bared Dean's kid probably thinks Dean is rich. We all know Dean lies about his profession to girls he's trying to hook up with. Kinda soapy? yes, but i think the writers will do just fine.

IMO: This story's purpose is to plant a seed in Dean's head that he has not done all he wants to while alive therefore steering Dean on a path to fight for his life and find a way out of the "deal". Also, take into consideration of how family oriented Dean is. It would be natural for Dean, a man approaching 30, to begin thinking about parenthood especially one who practically raised his brother.

Jo? Unfortunately for Alona, Jo did not come off as a likable character, but as Casey mentioned, it's not her fault. Mousitsa noted that a romance btwn Jo and Dean was "creepy". That had been my main issue with the character. Jensen looks his age and Alona looks extremely young for hers. On screen, it didn't work for me. Good luck to Ms Tal in her upcoming role.

Looking forward to S3 :)

Alona did come off as a little sister with an odd crush on her big brother. But I did love her. The boys are human & part of being human are the emotions that come with it. Happiness, anger, pain, love, etc. So I don't know what the big deal is when it comes to love interests for Sam & Dean. I think Jo would've been good for Dean if she hadn't been potrayed as the little sister first. Maybe if she dyed her hair a darker color she'd look older and the little sister image would wash away. I'd like to see her on Supernatural again.

That's sucks for Alona Tal, I think she is a good actress but she did come off as a 14 yrd old sister

As for Dean having a kid it's a big no. I already read the spoilers for it and at sn.tv we had a big discussion on it and it's not his....so that's all I'm saying

that would so suck!!!!!!

It dunt reali mata as lng as he dont get with its mum, hes beta single they both r there so hot :)

"Next week, on a very special Supernatural..."

The more I hear the worse I feel. First two hot troublemaking hunter chicks and now soapy paternity plots?

This show has a lot of potential but they keep veering further down the melodrama path. Last season nearly had me jumping ship because there was so much whining and crying. Last night's repeat of Heart is a perfect example. The old yeller romance sucked the life right out of what could have been an awesome episode. I had some buds over and I was embarrassed to be watching it, they thought it sucked so bad.

If they are already resorting to these kinds of cheap tactics to milk the drama then it's just not going to be worth it to watch anymore.

I'll give this season a shot but I feel like they're lining up the Impala for the ramp to jump the shark.

You know, when you think about it, I highly doubt that this kid is going to be Dean's. I think we need to give Kripke a bit more credit than that. If he can create an awesome show like Supernatural, he would know not to through a kid into the mix. I mean, an occasional kid is okay (like Lucas from "Dead in the Water") but I think the Man knows better than that, especially with the whole "I only have a year to live" storyline. Like someone said earlier, it is probably in there to make Dean think about things he used to not want, like settling down, having kids, living in a suburb. BUt I dont think we will have Little Dean riding back seat.
What we, as Supernatural fans, need to do, is learn to sort through the crap on the Internet. For example, Kripke has said, himself, that the new girls were NOT brought on to be love interests for the boys. BUt places like E! insist on spreading the rumor that the girls were brought on, basically, for that fact alone.(Something that annoys me is that even though Kripke has said that they arent love interests, Katie Cassidy goes around saying "Well Sam is mine yadda yadda" Either Kripke is lying or she needs to get her crap straight. GUess which one I think.)
As far as Jo is concerned, I, like many fans, think good riddance. I like Alona Tal. I loved her on VMars. But she just did not fit in this world. Which makes me wonder how Katie Cassidy (an almost double of Hillary DUfff) is going to make it as a bad-ass huntress??

I think that Dean should have a little girl we never ever see the man actors have little girls they all have little boys and i think they should have little girls for now on think it's time for something different and time for a change i think that will be fun to watch and it would be nice to see the men actors act with the Daddy's little girls that would be great and i also think that the show would get great readings and good comments

Jo's over. And so is the show if Dean has a kid.

I really doubt it's Dean's child.

"Toss out the chainsaws, sweetie; make room for little Dean's bicycle in that muscle-car trunk." You're kidding me, Kripke! Have you forgotten what kind of show you created? Or maybe your so-called writers are so desperate for plotlines they have to borrow from their favorite soaps. Wasn't Season 2 sappy enough to make people retch without throwing a possible paternity into the Season 3 mix? Come on, dude. If wusses are writing this junk, hire some tough guy types to script the series. This is supposed to be a kick-ass monster hunting show, not the freakin' Waltons. Much more of this chickflick crap, and I off Supernatural for good.

*raises eyebrows* Now I actually had a fic like this sorta except it happened in High school. But dude. *looks at Kripke* Yeeaaahhh. Doubt it. Seriously. I just don't see it. Kripke? Answers again.

Jo? Meh. She can stay gone, the longer the better. Dean possibly having a kid? Interesting, IMO and I have more faith in Kripke & Co pulling that off, than I do in AlMiles pulling off the little sister vibe I'm getting from Supergirl. You know a show is in trouble, when they introduce a little sister character and claim it's an organic progression for the hero to become, in this case, Mini-Jonathan. Supernatural is *far* from being in such dire straits.

I expected that one day Dean would meet his kid he had no idea about but I didnt think it to be now. I just cant wait to see Sammys reaction.

Alona I do hope you get to come back to Supernatural I love chemsitry you and Jensen (Dean) had. I also like the idea of Dean having a son it's something different than everything being about Sam.

I think it would be funny for the past to come back and bite Dean in the rear, but I don't think he'd really come in and disrupt the kids life. As it has been pointed out: he, quite possibly, has less than a year to live. While he might appreciate getting to know a child of his, he's not stupid enough to say alot and ruin the kids innocence. Admitting to the kid that he's the long lost father would cause alot of questions that he couldn't possibly answer. One more memory for him, one more person he has to leave. Talk about bitter sweet! About like POTC:AWE

Ok, my eyes are rolling so far upwards at the moment that I might be temporarily blinded enough to not be able to type these comments. **commencing further eye-rolling**

Part One: “where is Jo?” My first instinct is to respond “who the F cares?” but at the risk of not offending those who actually like Jo, let’s just say THAT ship has sailed. Been there, done that. Issues resolved in BUBS... she’s working the bar, working on her skills in a place far, far away. Might be seen someday in an episode, which will be tolerable at most. No offense, I like Alona, but the character of Jo as presented has been and always be a mistake that will take way too much time and effort to correct. I would rather see that time put to better use by getting more backstory on Bobby instead. And Alona got it right: a huge part of the problem was her youthful appearance which made the love interest angle visually creepy (an almost 30 guy with a 14 yr old girl) and the lil’sis angle revolting as we don’t want anyone in the Impala’s back seat but us -- the audience. We have enough concerns at the moment with the new potential bimbos that are scheduled to be added in the upcoming season to worry about the old bimbo being thrown into the mix. (and seriously, we don’t even bother to consider E! as a source anymore due to so many errors in the past... they’re nothing more than troublemakers at most with their incorrect theories.) Alona, good luck on your new series... hope it keeps you VERY busy over there at CBS.

Part Two: Dean with child **another eye roll**. I have read the summary and read the sides about Dean’s possible progeny. Although it would not be out of the realm of impossibility considering his womanizing ways, I believe Dean was very careful about that considering how important family is for him. A real child would throw in too many problems to the SN world, so I have no doubt that this child will NOT really be Dean’s, even though he -- and we -- will be lead to believe that it is. The purpose of this child’s appearance will be to make Dean question his deal, to make him question his priorities, to see what he may be missing out on by giving up his life in a year, and to make him yearn for something normal. Once these delicious psychological issues are brought about to their fully angsty potential, it will be revealed that this is not really Dean’s child. He, and we, will be relieved but also have a bit of regret at what might have been. Personally, I’m really looking forward to this episode based on the initial info.

And I really wish the CW Source would just STOP trying to create problems by passing on unsubstantiated rumors or presenting purely speculative info as given fact. You should know by now that many viewers of SN actually have enough intelligence to allow their REASONING to think things through and not buy into all the rumors presented to just get a rise out of people.

No! First we have to deal with these new girls, and now they want to make Dean a daddy.

What's next, is Dean going to trade in his car for a station wagon?

I totally agree that a child would be the death of this show. THe token child always makes the tv show/movie so much worse. And no offense to Alona Tal, but PLEASE dont bring Jo back!

An 8 year old is a desperate cry for horrible ratings. Bringing one in at this stage will only make it easier for horrible ratings and to get the show canned. I doubt Kripke would pull a stunt like this, espically at this point.

Necessary no. Actually happening no.

No offense to Alona, I find her to be a very good actress, but I don't want Jo back, ever.
That character just didn't work for me.
Yes she did come off a tad more like a little sister, but that's not something i'd want to see either. I just didn't find the Jo character likeable, or in any way useful to the show. But again, I don't blame the actress for that. She was working with what she was given, as far as dialogue and direction. I still shudder at that REO Speedwagon scene.
So I wish the best of luck to Alona, in whatever else she decides to do.

As far as Dean possibly having a kid. That's a big fat no. I don't mind if they do an episode, where he doesn't know if the kid is his. (Although i'd hoped they'd never even go that route) As long as it turns out to be for certain, not his by the end of it. I can deal with it.
I realize if it did turn out to be his, it's not the like kid would be tagging along or anything, but still, that storyline would eventually pop back up. And I just don't want that.

I like the idea of Dean having a kid, although I highly doubt this is what's going to happen. But the kid surely sounds like wee!DEan probably did.
I think one up side of Dean having a kid was the idea that Sam would not be alone - without a family - after he died. Sam would be able to focus on the kid, and Dean would be happy that his son and his brother had each other.
But as I said, I highly doubt he is really Dean's son.

I dont like the idea of dean having a kid. And i want Jo back.

That is actually the plot from the second episode of the 3rd season. It wasn't said it was Dean's child though. Only opened the possibility that it could be!

I like the idea of Dean having a kid, becuase if the kid IS his and he finds out,. he won't tell the kid. That would be an awkward conversation. "Hey, son, I'm your dad and I'm going to die in less than a year. Wanna play some ball?" He wouldn't do that to an 8-year-old boy, so even if it is his, the kid won't be tagging along. Dean is many things, but he's not cruel.
